What is Flavour Creations’ new reformulated range?

Our new patent-pending Amylase Resistant formula has been incorporated into our Dysphagia Nutrition range, which includes Thickened Ready-to-Drinks (RTDs), Thickened Supplements RTDs, thickeners, texture modified snacks, and desserts.

We created the Amylase Resistant formula to maintain the texture and viscosity of foods and drinks during consumption.

Amylase is an enzyme found in saliva that breaks down starches and changes the texture/viscosity of foods and drinks. 

When amylase changes the texture/viscosity of texture-modified food and drinks, it can increase the risk of choking and aspiration for people living with dysphagia. Our new Amylase Resistant formula eliminates these risks, improves the safety, quality, and taste of our products and supports better hydration and nutrition for people with dysphagia.

What is salivary amylase (amylase)?

Amylase is an enzyme found in saliva that breaks down starches (a type of carbohydrate) in foods and fluids.  This can lead to changes in the texture/viscosity of the food or fluid.

To minimise the effect of amylase on food and drinks, we developed our new patent-pending Amylase Resistant formula, which maintains the texture and viscosity of foods and drinks during consumption. For people living with dysphagia, our Amylase Resistant formula eliminates the risk of choking and aspiration, improves the safety, quality, and taste of our products, and supports better hydration and nutrition.

Why is amylase dangerous for people with dysphagia?

People with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) can safely eat and drink by consuming texture modified foods and drinks. These may be thickened or softened to a specific viscosity/texture depending on the severity of their swallowing difficulty.

Unfortunately, most thickened foods and fluids use starch-based thickeners, which can be broken down by the amylase in saliva. This can result in changes to the viscosity of the food or fluid. Many people with dysphagia also eat and drink more slowly, giving the amylase more time to break down the thickener.

When a thickened food or drink becomes too thin, it can pose a choking and aspiration risk. This, in turn, can create an aversion to eating and drinking in people with dysphagia, which can lead to other health conditions like dehydration and malnutrition.

Our new Amylase Resistant formula, developed over five years as a result of advances in research, is not affected by amylase. This means our products maintain their texture/viscosity during consumption, and are now safer, better quality, and more delicious than ever.

What is the technology you have used? How is the product amylase resistant?

Our patent-pending Amylase Resistant formula stays at the same thickness during contact with the salivary amylase.  This stable viscosity makes our Amylase Resistant products safer for people with dysphagia.

How do DVA patients obtain a subsidy for nutritional supplements?

Dietitians can support eligible veterans and war widows/widowers in accessing subsidised nutritional supplements through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Steps:

1. Assess clinical need – If a nutritional supplement, like Argie Wound Care or AdVital Hospital Strength, is necessary to support the client’s referred condition, complete the D9165 form – D9165 Request for Nutritional Supplementation.

2. Send your recommendation to:

  • The client’s GP, and
  • The Veterans’ Affairs Pharmaceutical Advisory Centre (VAPAC).

3. The GP contacts VAPAC – The doctor must request prior approval for an RPBS Authority prescription.

4. Dispensing – Once approved, the supplement is dispensed through the client’s pharmacy. For questions call VAPAC on 1800 552 580.

How long can Dysphagia RTD Cups be left out of the fridge for, and how should I store them?

Dysphagia RTD Cups that have been:

  • Open for less than 2 hours can be eaten or put in the fridge (< 5°C) for later.
  • Open and unrefrigerated (≥ 5°C) for 2–4 hours can be eaten, but can’t be put in the fridge for later.
  • Open and unrefrigerated (≥ 5°C) for 4 hours or more must be discarded.
  • Open and refrigerated (< 5°C) need to be thrown away after 24 hours of being opened.

This is the 2-hour/4-hour rule.

You can use Dysphagia Cup Lids to safely and easily store your opened Dysphagia RTD Cups in the fridge.  Remember to store your unopened Dysphagia RTD Cups in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Can I add sugar or other sweeteners to my Dysphagia RTD Cups?

Yes, you can add sugar and other sweeteners to your Dysphagia RTD Cups.

Can I add medication to my Dysphagia RTD Cups?

Although most medication can be safely consumed with Dysphagia RTD Cups, we recommend checking with the medication’s manufacturer regarding any possible interactions with thickening agents.

Can I heat my Dysphagia RTD Cups in the microwave?

Yes, Dysphagia RTD Cups can be heated in normal microwaves, but please remove the foil and/or plastic lids before heating.

How long do Dysphagia RTD Cups last for?

Each Dysphagia RTD Cup has a recommended use-by date on the base of the cup.  The Dysphagia RTD Cup should not be consumed after this date.

Once opened, each Dysphagia RTD Cup should only be kept for up to 24 hours if refrigerated, or as per the 2-hour/4-hour rule if not refrigerated. 

Can Dysphagia RTD Cups be frozen?

Yes, the Dysphagia RTD Cups can be frozen.  When unfrozen, they will thaw to the IDDSI level displayed on the label.

Is 2.5 kcal Vanilla Flavour suitable for tube feeding?

2.5 kcal Vanilla Flavour may be suitable for nasogastric tube feeding. Seek support and advice from an Accredited Practising Dietitian. 

How much calcium and vitamin D is in 2.5 kcal Vanilla Flavour?

2.5 kcal Vanilla is a good source of calcium and vitamin D to support healthy teeth and bones. 2.5 kcal Vanilla contains 432 mg of calcium per serve and 60.1 µg of vitamin D per serve.

What’s the best way to store 2.5 kcal Vanilla Flavour once opened?

Reseal 2.5 kcal Vanilla with our Flavour Creations ergonomic cup lid and refrigerate between servings. Discard leftover product after 24 hours. ‘2-hour/4-hour’ rule is recommended.

Yes, instant THICK Powder is suitable for children 1 year and older under medical supervision.

Are Fruits with Attitude suitable for children?

Yes, Fruits with Attitude pureed fruit is suitable for children 1 year and older.  Children with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) should only consume Fruits with Attitude pureed fruit under the supervision of a medical professional. 

Shipping & Handling

Which states/countries do you ship to?

We offer shipping to all parts of Australia. 

If you live outside of Australia, we can provide you with a customised shipping quote.  For more information about international shipping, contact our Customer Hub team.

 

Can I schedule a certain time or day for delivery?

You can schedule a specific day of the week for your order to be delivered, but you can’t choose a specific time.  Our couriers may arrive at your selected address any time between 9am and 5pm on that day. 

If no-one is available to receive your delivery, our couriers will either leave your delivery in the location you specified (if you granted us ‘Authority to Leave’ on your order) or return your delivery to the depot for re-delivery.    

Do you deliver to a Post Office Box?

We are unable to deliver to a post office box. Please provide a residential or business address for delivery.

What can I do if my order hasn’t arrived within the timeframe you specified?

If your order hasn’t arrived within the date range we specified on your order receipt, please call or email our Customer Hub team.

 

What can I do if my order has arrived without items included on the invoice/receipt?

If your order is missing items that are present on your order receipt or invoice, please call or email our Customer Hub team.  If you have multiple items in an order, they may have been shipped separately. 

 

What happens if you can’t fulfil my order?

If we can’t fulfil your order for any reason, we will contact you via the contact details you provided on your order.  If one or more items on your order are unavailable, you can choose to have us either:

  • refund your account with the full value of the unavailable item(s); or
  • ship you the item(s) once available (if the item(s) is/are on back order).
What happens if my order gets lost in transit?

If you believe your order may be lost in transit, please contact our Customer Hub team.  Once we have confirmed your order has been lost, we will replace your missing order with the same order.  You will not be charged shipping costs for the replacement order. 

In the event that some items from your order have become unavailable, you can choose to have us either:

  • refund your account with the full value of the unavailable item(s); or
  • ship you the item(s) once available (if the items are on back order).

All orders over AU$350 are free of shipping and delivery costs Australia-wide.

If your order is under AU$350, shipping and delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the weight of your order.

How long will an order I’ve placed online take to reach me?

If you are located in Australia, your order will normally take between two and seven business days to reach you.

If you are located internationally, please contact our Customer Hub team for estimated shipping times.

 

What happens if I’m not at home when the delivery arrives?

If our couriers arrive at your address and no-one is available to receive your order, we will either:

  • Leave your order in the location you requested (if you selected ‘Authority to Leave’ on your order)
  • Return your order to the depot for re-delivery (if you didn’t select ‘Authority to Leave’ on your order)

We will notify you by text and/or by email when your order is delivered or returned to the depot.  If your order needs to be re-delivered, our Customer Hub team will contact you to organise an appropriate day for re-delivery.

Where will you leave my unattended delivery?

If you selected ‘Authority to Leave’ on your order, your order will be left in the location you specified.

How are your products stored during shipping?

During shipping, all Flavour Creations products are stored in a dry, room-temperature environment out of direct sunlight.

What do I need to do to ensure I can receive an unattended delivery?

To receive an unattended delivery, select ‘Authority to Leave’ on your order form, and provide the desired delivery location in the Order Notes section.

For a successful unattended delivery, please ensure access to your selected delivery location is unobstructed, and that there are no hazards (including unrestrained dogs) that could endanger our couriers.

Returns & Exchanges

What can I do if one of the items in my order arrived damaged?

If you think an item in your order is damaged, please take photos of the item that clearly depict the damage and contact our Customer Hub team. 

Please don’t discard the damaged products unless our Customer Hub team have advised you to do so.

 

Can I return products I’ve already received?

No.  Unless the product has been damaged in transit or is faulty in some other way, you can’t return products that have been delivered.   

How long after getting my order do I have to notify you about damaged or missing goods?

If you have received damaged items, please contact us within seven (7) days of receiving the items.

If you believe your item may be missing in transit, please contact us within seven (7) days of the order failing to arrive.  All Australian orders should arrive in two to seven days, so, if you haven’t received your order eight (8) or more days after ordering, please contact us immediately.  

I’m not happy with my products. Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our products, we can’t provide refunds if you change your mind or aren’t happy with your purchases.

If any item you’ve purchased is damaged or faulty in some way, please take photos of the damage or fault and immediately contact our Customer Hub team. 

 

The products I bought didn’t do what you said they would. Am I entitled to a refund?

While every Flavour Creations product undergoes rigorous testing and quality control procedures, everyone’s body is different, and we can’t guarantee any product effects or health outcomes.  Any effects or outcomes mentioned in relation to specific products are the result of individual experiences, and may not be applicable to everyone.

Consequently, we can’t provide refunds for products that don’t deliver specific effects or outcomes.  If a product is demonstrably damaged or faulty, please take photos of the damage or fault and immediately contact our Customer Hub team.

How do I order Flavour Creations products?

You can order our products by creating an online Flavour Creations account, adding products from our online store to your cart, and checking out.

Alternatively, you can order Flavour Creations products by calling our friendly Customer Hub team.

We accept the following payment methods:

Currently, you can’t automate placing orders through the Flavour Creations site.

How can I buy products in bulk?

You can purchase available Flavour Creations products by adding them to your cart.  Currently, we don’t offer any bulk discounts for individuals, although we do offer free shipping on orders over AU$220.

While most of our product prices do include GST, prices for some specialised products may not.  Any GST not included in product prices will be specified during the checkout process, prior to payment. 

Do you have any stores or retail outlets that I can buy from in-person?

Most Flavour Creations products are available from selected pharmacies.  You can find the pharmacies that stock our products here.

Alternatively, you can purchase any of our in-stock products from our head office at 26-32 Murdoch Circuit, Acacia Ridge, QLD, 4110. 

 

Is it safe to purchase from your website with my credit card?

Yes, all credit card purchases through our website are secured by the international payment platform Stripe.

Alternatively, you can make purchases through our site using PayPal.

How can I change my order after it’s been placed?

You can change an order after it’s been placed by calling our Customer Hub team immediately.

 

How can I cancel my order after it’s been placed?

You can cancel an order after it’s been placed by calling our Customer Hub team as soon as possible. 

If you cancel an order prior to the order being shipped, the full value of your order will be refunded to your account. 

If you cancel an order after the order has been shipped but before it has been delivered, the value of the order, minus the cost of shipping, will be refunded to your account.

 

Will my order be delivered if I haven’t paid the invoice?

No.  We won’t begin processing your order until you’ve made a verified payment through one of our payment channels.

To create a Flavour Creations customer account, follow the steps appropriate for your device.

Creating a Flavour Creations Account on a Desktop Device
  1. Go to the top of the Flavour Creations site.
  2. Below the orange announcement bar, click My Account/Register. You will be taken to a new page.
  3. Fill in the fields for the Register for a New Account Make sure you enter details for all fields marked with a asterisk (*).
  4. Read and accept our Terms and Conditions.
  5. When you’ve finished filling in all required fields and have accepted the Terms and Conditions, click the orange Register
  6. You will be sent an email to the email address you provided asking you to reconfirm your registration. This email will also contain your password.
  7. Go to your email, find the email from , and follow the link in the email to confirm your account and log in.
  8. Once you have confirmed your account, store your username and password in a secure location.

 

Creating a Flavour Creations Account on a Mobile Device
  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Flavour Creations site.
  2. Find the Online Store drop-down menu, and click the button on the right.
  3. You should see a drop-down menu with three options. Click Login/Register.  You will be taken to a new page.
