Ham, Cheese & Tomato Sandwiches

Ingredients

For the Tomato

  • 200 g Tomato Passata
  • 2 Scoop A Shape It Powder
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

For the Ham

  • 200 g Honey baked Ham - Chopped
  • 120 g Water
  • 1.5 Scoop A Shape It Powder

For the Cheese Slices

  • 100 g Full cream Milk
  • 1.5 Scoop A Shape It Powder
  • 3 g Sodium Citrate
  • 100 g Tasty Shredded Cheese

For the Bread

  • 100 g (6 slices) White bread - Crusts removed
  • 800 ml Full Cream Milk
  • 5 Scoop A Shape It Powder

Instructions

For the Tomato - Pureed

  • Line a tray with cling film.
  • In a small saucepan, bring all ingredients to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 seconds.
  • Pour liquid into prepared baking tray and spread to desired thickness. We recommend 3mm thickness.

For the Ham

  • Line a tray with cling film.
  • Whisk water & Shape It in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Add ham and bring to the boil again over medium heat.
  • Transfer the mixture into a blender and blitz on high speed for 3 minutes until mixture is completely smooth, scraping down the sides as required.
  • Pour mixture into the prepared tray and spread to desired thickness. We recommend 3mm thickness. Refrigerate until set.

For the Cheese Slices

  • Line a large tray with cling film, overhanging.
  • Whisk milk, Shape It and sodium citrate in saucepan until fully dissolved, bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat to low then continue to simmer.
  • Whisk in 1/3 grated cheese at a time to simmering liquid, melting before adding more cheese.
  • Once all cheese is incorporated and mixture is smooth, pour onto prepared tray and spread out to desired thickness. We recommend roughly 3mm thick

For the Bread - Soaked

  • Line a tray with cling film.
  • Lay the bread onto tray, ensuring each piece is not overlapping.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, bring milk and Shape It Powder to the boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Use a fork to pierce holes into the bread to help milk solution soak evenly into the bread.
  • Pour 3/4 cup of hot milk solution over the bread, and keep the remaining liquid hot. Allow to soak in for 1 minute.
  • Turn bread over, and pour remaining ¼ cup of hot milk solution over and unsoaked parts. Allow to soak and refrigerate for 2 – 3 hours.

Assemble the Sandwich

  • Before filling and serving cut off any dried or unsoaked pieces and remove any excess liquid formed around the edges.
  • Layer pureed ham, cheese and tomato evenly between shaped bread slices. Serve.
